Central Laboratory

All laboratories at Medicabil Hospital are equipped with modern technology and play an important role in the diagnostic process. The Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Pathology, and Electrophysiology laboratories contribute to the diagnosis of diseases through a wide range of laboratory tests.

The tests performed in our laboratories are completed as quickly as possible using continuously updated equipment that follows developments in science and technology, under the supervision of various international quality control centers.

The objectives of the Clinical Laboratory are to:

  • Detect diseases or identify predisposition to certain diseases,

  • Assist in confirming or ruling out a diagnosis,

  • Predict the duration and progression of certain diseases,

  • Monitor the effectiveness of treatments.

Patient safety and expectations are taken into consideration at every stage, from collecting a sample from the patient for testing to using the results for the patient’s benefit. All practices required by national and international healthcare and management standards are fully implemented.

All laboratory tests required for diagnosis, treatment, and patient assessment are performed using modern equipment, experienced technicians supported by continuous and up-to-date training, a well-designed and functional physical environment, and an effective management team committed to quality.

Our Clinical Laboratory Services Include:

  • Biochemistry: Analyses are performed on blood, urine, and other body fluids. Tests evaluating liver and kidney function, blood lipids such as cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, and LDL, blood glucose measurements, and glucose tolerance tests used to investigate impaired glucose regulation are among the tests performed in this department.

  • Endocrinology: This department focuses on hormone testing. Tests that help assess vitamin levels and hormonal status are among the parameters analyzed here. First- and second-trimester screening tests used during pregnancy to screen for certain genetic disorders in the fetus are also performed in this department.

  • Coagulation: A wide range of tests are performed to evaluate blood clotting. These parameters assist in the assessment of bleeding and coagulation disorders.

  • Electrophoresis: Tests are performed to help identify the presence and types of certain enzymes and proteins in blood and urine.

  • Hematology: Complete blood counts and the evaluation of red blood cells, white blood cells, and other blood cells are among the tests performed in this department.

  • Allergy: There are numerous tests that help determine the presence of allergies and identify the substances to which an individual may be allergic.

  • Toxicology: Tests are performed to determine the levels of various medications and the presence of certain toxic substances.

  • Microbiology: Microorganisms are classified as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. All of these microorganisms can act as causative agents of disease. In this unit, we perform both direct and indirect tests for microorganisms responsible for infections. The Microbiology Laboratory includes the following subspecialty areas: bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, and serology.

  • Immunology: The Immunology Laboratory performs tests used in the diagnosis of diseases affecting the immune system.

  • Molecular Biology: Significant advances have been made in recent years in the laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases. New methods have been developed for the direct detection of the infectious agent itself, as well as for the indirect detection of pathogen-specific antigens and antibodies produced by the body in response to the pathogen. The detection of microbial DNA and RNA enables more accurate and rapid results. Even when present in very small quantities in clinical specimens, disease-causing microorganisms can be readily identified using these technologies. This approach is particularly valuable for detecting microorganisms that are difficult to culture or cannot be grown using conventional culture media.
